Not So Black & White
Being in a different environment, and having time to question my thinking and myself, made me notice how sometimes I make things black and white. Good or bad. Right or wrong. Normal or abnormal. Winning or losing. Happy or sad. I guess it simplifies things and makes things clearer.
However, as I looked around I could see an infinite spectrum of colours, even though I was in the desert. There was a whole rainbow, plus more.
So, I began following nature's example and adding colour to my thinking and myself. Embracing multiple perspectives. Including compassion. Combining empathy. Discovering complexity. Accepting the depth of the unknown. Seeing things for what they are, rather than simplifying them to the dichotomies of black and white.
And, as this zebra found, colouring in relieved my stress.
Something to think about…
"You have to colour outside the lines once in a while if you want to make your life a masterpiece."
- Albert Einstein
