Alone

October 8, 2016

Every now and again I find myself feeling alone. Yes, I know I’m single and my family is interstate, so this makes being physically alone a pretty easy thing. What I’m talking about is when I call or text maybe five different people for a chat or a catch up and for some reason everyone is busy or has something happening in their life, house renos, travelling, social events, sickness, kids etc, which makes it impossible to catch up. It seems to be “kabam” and spontaneously everyone is hit with the busy bug and I’m alone.

Now this is no-ones’ fault, I don’t take this personally. Well not anymore. A while ago I used to but now I know that it’s simply life. Life has its ebbs and flows of quiet and busy times. My perception changed when I was reading a book and it talked about being alone and how long ago the word was treated as two words all one. To be all one meant to be wholly one, to be in oneness. Being alone gives the perfect opportunity to experience being all one.

So now when I’m alone I use this as an opportunity to become all one. I stop and give myself a bit of TLC and do some of the things I’ve wanted to do for ages but haven’t got around to. I wake up each morning and think to myself “what will I do today that makes me happy?”

I’ve discovered a bunch of questions that help me become all one. I find at times it’s easy to get side tracked, busy doing things and lose track of myself. These questions help bring me back to me; back to being all one.

What will I let live today?
What will I let die today?
What do I fear?
What life am I afraid to give birth to? If not now, when?

Now I’m quite happy when I don’t get hit with the busy bug. I enjoy being alone and becoming all one. Instead of spending energy fighting the situation I accept it for what it is and make the most of it.

I know some clients have being talking about being alone and how to handle it, so I thought I'd share what I do. Hopefully this gives you a new perspective.

Something to think about...

"Sometimes you need to be alone. Not to be lonely, but to enjoy your free time being yourself."
